Below are the basic steps in the K-1 Visa process:
1) Assemble your supporting documents
2) Meet the K-1 Visa Requirements
a) personal meeting within last 3 years
b) U.S. Citizenship of US Fiance
c) No Felony Convictions by either party
d) Additional Requirements
3) Complete the initial petition
4) File your initial petition with USCIS
5) 2-4 weeks receive your receipt notice with your case tracking number
6) 3-5 months receive your approval notice for your initial petition
7) 2-4 Weeks NVC processing
8) Receive your consular packet and schedule your consular inteview
9) Consular Interview 2-4 months after consular packet is received
10) Get your K-1 - Same day - 2-4 weeks in most cases

To qualify for a K-1 Fiance Visa both the petitioner (US Citizen) and the beneficiary (Foreign Fiance) must meet certain requirements.
Among these requirements are:
1) Financial ability to sponsor the fiance
2) Moral Fitness of Fiance - i.e. no criminal record
3)
In Person Meeting within the last 2 years
4) Physical Health of Fiance - i.e. no communicable diseases like AIDS or TB
5) Permission
to bring children (if relevant)
6) Sponsor has not petitioned in last 2 years or petitioned for more than 2 fiances
7) Sponsor
has no violent criminal history
8) Proof of US Citizenship for Petitioner
